 Dolphins are highly intelligent mammals which can be found in seas and oceans. The common dolphin averages 2.4 m in length and 75 kg in weight.
Dolphins are carnivores, mostly eating fish, squid and crustaceans. Dolphins can be different in colour but generally they are grey with darker backs. Dolphins are well known for their agility and playful behavior, making them so much interesting and attractive to people. Dolphins live in social groups of five to several hundred. Dolphins produce an enormous variety of sounds, up to frequencies ten times those heard by human beings. Their aquatic natural enemies are sharks and killer whales. There are many reports of dolphins rescuing people from drowning.

I'd like to tell some words about beautiful marine creatures called dolphins. The name 'dolphin' is originally from Greek 'delphis' that is related to the Greek 'womb. And often the name 'dolphin' is interpreted as "a 'fish' with a womb". 
Scientists believe that the dolphins lived 65 million years ago and they say that today there are about 43 types of dolphins swimming in world's oceans and rivers. 
There is an amazing difference in size of different types of dolphins. The larg ones can weigh about 11 tons and be about 9 metres long. The smaller ones are about 50 kilos and 1 metre long.
The body of a dolphin helps them to move in the water quickly. They use their fins and the tail. The food that dolphins eat is different. Some dolphins eat fish. Large dolphins eat some marine mammals like seals or sea lions. 
The natural enemies that the small species of dolphins have in the ocean are the large species of sharks. However, the most dangerous for dolphins are humans who kill more dolphins than any other animal in the ocean. 
Dolphins are very social animals. They live in groups and cooperate with each other to get food and raise calves. Dolphins are curious animals. They play with each other and with seaweeds. They can jump up to 50 metres out of the water.
