My
great-great-grandmother Evdokia was born in 1888 in a wealthy family. When she was 16, she was married to a Cossack named Ilya Ivanovich. They had 6
children, but 3 children died while being infants. Before the 1917 revolution they were rich. During the revolution, Ilya Ivanovich went to fight on
the side of the White Army, and in 1918 he was killed in action. In 1933,
Evdokia was sentenced to 5-year imprisonment with confiscation of the property for the fact that she was a Cossack. Having served her term in jail
she came on foot to her village. There was a famine and she brought two bags of crackers. She lived a long life. She was a very hard-working and
strong woman.
