This is a story that people can't explain. It's about a ship called the Mary Celeste.
On 5 November 1872, the Mary Celeste left New York. It was sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to Italy. Captain Briggs, his wife, their two-year-old daughter and a crew of eight men were on the ship. Nobody ever saw them again!
One month later, the crew of a British ship saw the Mary Celeste floating in the distance. They decided to go onto the ship. It was very strange, because there was missing. But there was a lot of food and water, and the ship wasn't damaged. So why did Captain Briggs, and his family and crew, leave the ship?
Some people think there was a storm. Maybe the crew thought they were in danger. Other people think sea monsters or other ghostly creatures took them! It's a mystery!
