Why are cows special in India?
Many people in India live quiet and simple life, spending most of their time on farming. The most important animal is cow, which provides family with milk and works on farm.
The farmers are not rich people, who can't afford buying machines to help them do their work. However, cows don't need gsoline or repairs like mahines, so they are very suitable fot Indian people.
Farners take care of their cows by washing and decorating them. There are even some celebrations for thw cows. They are quite similar to Thanksgiving day in the U.S.
Old cows cannot work on farms and it's forbidden to kill the cow. So farmers just send them away. There are also special animal hospitals for old and sick cows. Government and rich people maintain those hospitals.
It's strange for foreign countries to spend money on cows, as, for example, in the USA people spent their time on dogs and cats, not on cows. But Indian have cared for cows for a long time. It is a tradition that is thousand of years old.
