I’m a great lover of the English and American literature. Among my favourite writers are W. Shakespeare, Agatha Cristie and Jerome Klapka Jerome.
Jerome Klapka Jerome was born in Walsall, Staffordshire,England on 2nd May 1859. At the age of 29 he married Georgina Elizabeth Henrietta Stanley Marris. They spent their honeymoon on the Thames and Jerome began writing his best known novel “Three Men In A Boat” on his return. In the beginning the book was intended to be serious, but the humorous elements eventually took over. It was published in 1889 and made him rich and famous.
“Three Men In A Boat” is one of my favourite books. The story begins by introducing George, Harris, Jerome and Montmorency, a fox terrier. The men are spending an evening in Jerome's room, smoking and discussing illnesses they fancy they suffer from. They conclude they are all suffering from 'overwork' and need a holiday. The three decide on a boating holiday up the River Thames, during which they will camp, notwithstanding Jerome's anecdotes about previous experiences with tents and camping stoves. They collect their hired boat and start the journey. The remainder of the story describes their river journey and the funny incidents that occur.
But, in my opinion, the the greatest English writer is Agatha Cristie. The most popular book is The Mysterious Affair at Styles. In this book Agatha introduce her favourite characters to readers for the first time.
I can’t imagine my life without reading cause it is my main hobby and it organize all my inner world and my character.
