English is very popular nowadays. It is so popular because there are a lot of English-speaking countries and thats why English is a mother tongue for people living there. English is an international language so it is very important to learn it. If you use Internet, and nowadays nearly everybody does it, you should know English. All adresses in Internet are written in English. Beside it, it has become very popular to travel abroad, and as it is impossible to learn all the foreign languages, people all over the world learn English. So when you come even to non-English-speaking country, you still can communicate with people there in English. And knowledge that I get at school during our English language lessons help me a lot. I can ask the way to the place where I want to go. I can order food in a cafe and I can even reserve a room in a hotel. I just need to remember the dialogues that our teacher gave us during our lessons. When I last was abroad I met some teenagers there and we made friends and now we communicate with each other, write e-mails and chat.
English also helped me to learn more about geography, histiry, culture. When we read texts about English-speaking countries, I learned about their history, culture, geography, traditions and customs.
Moreover now when I know English I can read different famous writers in the original, without translation. I can watch films, interviews and listen to original radio programmes (BBC for example).
And in future maybe I'll have an opportunity to work for an international company, so my language skills will be of great help.
