Dorian Gray is a rich young man who is very handsome. His friend Basil Hallward paints his portrait. The young sees the portrait and makes a wish to remain young and handsome forever while the portrait grows old. Dorian makes such a wish because his other friend Lord Wotton thinks that only youth and beauty can give Dorian all he wants. His wish comes true and he stays young while the man in the picture grows old. Dorian does a lot bad things. He kills Basil Hallward because the artist finds out the truth. Sybil, the girl who loves Dorian, kills herself because Dorian doesn't love her any more. Her brother also dies because of Dorian later. After each such accident the man in the picture becomes uglier and uglier. But handsome and young Dorian does not change though he is over forty already. In the end Dorian wants to destroy the portrait of the old and ugly man with the knife. But in fact he kills himself. So when people come, they see an old and ugly man on the floor with the knife in his heart and a beautiful young man in the portrait.
