Настя, если переведём предложение, вставив thinks, то получим: В то время, когда её ученики писали...(прошлое время) она часто думает... (настоящее время) Получается, что всё-таки она часто думала в то время, какие они (были) хорошие))))
И слндующее предложение : В те моменты она была.... ( когда думала) А не сейчас...
Ты или в смысл не вникла, или связи между предложениями не видишь, или не знаешь закон согласования времён в англ. языке. Согласна?
