A hot afternoon in the spring was the the most likely time for a
tornado. Clouds became dark. There was thunder, lighting, and rain. A
cloud formed a funnel and began to twist. The funnel moved faster and
faster. Tornadoes always moved in a northeastern direction. They never
lasted longer than eight hours. The worst tornado swept through the
state Missourri, Illinois, and Indiana in 1925. It killed 689 people.
Nothing could stop tornadoes from destroying in their parth.
