Ukrainian composer, teacher, public figure
Born February 20, 1889 in the village. Irzhavets Chernihiv region. Brother Dr. M. Revutskiy. Music education in Kyiv Lysenko music school (1906-1908) and the Kiev Conservatory (1916). He graduated from the Faculty of Law and the University of Kiev. Since 1924 - the teaching in the Kiev Conservatory (theory of composition); 1944 - head of composition, music theory and history of the Tashkent Conservatory. Since 1944 working again at the Kiev Conservatory. Among his pupils - I. Akbarov, V. Homolyaka, M. Dremlyuga, G. Zhukovsky V. Kyreyko, G. and P. Mai beard, A. Svyechnykov, Alexander Filipenko. Since 1932 - a member of the Union of Composers of the USSR, from 1944 - its chairman from 1948 - a member of the Union of Soviet Composers. In his musical creativity was based on national folklore. His works; poem-cantata "kerchief" (1929, lyrics by T. Shevchenko), "Ode to Song" (the words of M. Rila), two symphonies, a concerto for piano and orchestra, piano works (choirs, songs, songs, arrangements of folk songs, Cycles "Cossack songs", "Sun", "Galician Songs"), amended Lysenko opera "Taras Bulba" (1937.1955).
