State Reserve arboretum "Sofiyivka" is located in the city of Uman, Cherkasy region. Without a doubt, this is one of the masterpieces of landscape art. It is called the pearl of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, the names of those who made their own hands "Sofiyivka" is not preserved. Recently we found out the names of three builders: John and Elijah Vdovychenko and Korney Jones. All were serfs. The designer is a Polish military engineer Mortar. Orders for construction was created Stanislaw Potocki. The masterpiece was present for his future wife Sofia.
The park was created in a rocky ravine Kamenka,near the town. It proceeded meandering creek «Bagno» Overall Kamenka had at that time unattractive appearance.

The legend connects its origin and name from an accident during construction. Here serfs died, crushed by an unbearable burden. The park trees were planted local species and exotic plants from around the world. Alley is decorated with statues of ancient gods and goddesses made of the best sculptors in Italy.
Uman park is the original standard for professionals of landscape art and wery beautiful place, where each should go.
