name is Alexei and I’m fourteen years old. My family is not very large. It’s just me, my parents and my younger sister. In the evenings after school and work we usually get together in front of the TV to watch something interesting. Our living-room is rather spacious and cozy. There is a comfortable sofa, two armchairs, one table, a cupboard and a large TV set. Last night there was a concert on, which my mum didn’t want to miss. So we all sat on the sofa to watch it and I should say it was worth it. It was the Eurovision song contest, where young and talented singers or bands performed on stage. The songs were undoubtedly wonderful. I especially liked the ones from Romania and Serbia. The thing I like most about Eurovision is that the performers present not only a new song, but also a whole show, sometimes involving the ice-skaters, the pianists, the bicycles, flowers and numerous dancers on stage. There are usually the singers from most European countries. At the end the winner is chosen by voting. All countries-participants have the right to vote. The country which wins becomes the host of the next competition. This time Sweden won with the song “Heroes”. It was melodic and life-affirming at the same time. Although the contest was till late night, I didn’t regret staying up awake. The concert was worth it. As soon as I heard the results, I went to bed content and happy. Next morning together with my classmates we discussed the Eurovision and shared opinions.
