At 6 p.m.yesterday a fire (1) broke out at 16 Chestnut St., Otley, in an old building which (2) had been abandoned for years. The neighbours (3) called the local fire brigade who said they (4) would come at once.
The fire engine driver, who (5) had received his professional licence only a few
days before, (6) was driving a little too fast and (7) crashed into a tree. The firemen (8) called the headquarters to inform them about what (9) had happened only to find out that the villagers (10) had managed to put out the fire on their own.
„We (11) have been extinguishing fires in this area for years and nothing like that
(12) happened before,” says Bill Hogan, the head officer for this area. „I’m sure the driver (13) will be punished as the crash (14) was clearly his fault.”
