In the UK, this event was first organized in 1990, on the initiative of "Common Ground" - one of the charitable organizations of the Albion. Although the holiday is called "Apple Day" it is dedicated not only to apples, but to all orchards, as well as to local island attractions.

The organizers of this holiday were able to see in the apple a symbol of diversity and all aspects of the world, and a sign that a person is able to influence the events around him. If you recall the Bible Eve, then their point of view becomes more understandable - not much what fruit so influenced the life of man as a "forbidden fruit" - an apple.

The holiday carries in itself some elements of the fair with a thematic apple slope, on which you can not only try hundreds of varieties of apples (some of which are not on sale in stores), but also buy seedlings in order to grow them in your own garden or near the house . Beginners "apple-trees" can expect to receive during the "Apple Day" a qualified consultation on their interesting "apple" issues.

At the festival, you can try and dozens of a variety of culinary dishes from apples and get recipes for some of them, so you can later have the opportunity to cook them at home.

Already the traditional attribute of this holiday were all sorts of "apple contests", such as, for example, archery on apples or cleaning an apple, where the one who has managed to cut the longest peel from an apple wins.

Some Internet sites have already hastened to call the "Apple Day" (celebrated by subjects of the English crown) not otherwise: "World Apple Day" [2]. And although, at the moment, this title is erroneous, it may well become prophetic. So, in the United States of America there already exists its "Apple Day", which is celebrated annually on February 20.
