Belfast Castle (English Belfast Castle) is one of the castles of Ireland, located on the slopes of the Cavehill Mountains in Country Park, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It stands at an altitude of 400 feet above sea level and overlooks the city of Belfast.
Belfast Castle was built in the late 12th century by the Normans [1], was located in the city itself. The castle is surrounded by the streets of High Street, Zamkova Square, Donegal Square - in the center of Belfast. This castle was the residence of Baron Chichester (he was better known as Sir Arthur Chichester), but this residence burned down in 1708. Instead of restoring the residence to its original location, Baron Chichester decided to build a new residence in the suburbs. The building, which we see today, was built in 1811-1870 by the Marquis Donegal. The castle was built in the style of Scottish barons Charles Lanyon and his sons. After the death of the Marquise Donegal and the economic crisis of the family, VIII Earl of Shaftesbury completed the construction of this castle.
