I want to tell you about an American TV series Breaking Bad (known in Russian as "Во все тяжкие"). I only watched the first season out of five, so I'll tell you about it.
It's a story about a school chemistry teacher, Walter White, portrayed by Bryan Cranston, who leads a timid life in a small town in New Mexico, with his wife, Skyler, portrayed by Anna Gunn, and their son, Walter Jr., who has cerebral palsy (церебральный паралич).
Walter is diagnosed with a terminal lung cancer on the day after his 50th birthday. He quits his secondary job at a car wash, and, decides to enter the illegal drug trade market.
His decision to turn into an outlawyer is based on his will to develop a sufficient inheritance for his family before he dies. He enlists one of his former students, Jessee Pinkman, as his accomplice, and they begin producing methamphetamine.
His new life, full of danger, underground dealing and threats, doesn't have anything in common to his previous life. At some point, Walter even breaks his ties with Jesse.
In the meantime, his family eventually convince him to undergo the chemotherapy treatment. However, the treatment is very expensive, just the first session would cost more than $96 000 dollars. Walter turns down the financial assistance offered by his brother-in-law, Hank and his wealthy former business partner Elliott. Walter instead decides to return to producing meth, and tells his family that the money he earns is actually Elliott's.
Then Walter convinces Jesse that they ought start selling their product to Tuco, a powerful but psychopathic drug distributor.
That's where the first season ends. The series has been very suspenseful and interesting, I'm looking forward for the second season.
