Romeo Montague - the protagonist of the tragedy of William Shakespeare "Romeo and Juliet", a romantic, young man in love, a representative of a noble family in Verona. For a long time, the Montecchi family is at enmity with another respected family in the city - the Capulets. Romeo and Juliet are victims of this many years of hostility. The hero appears to the reader at the very beginning of the work of a naive young man who walks all the time with friends and is in love with some absurd beauty named Rosalind. Friends notice that this is artificial love and they often tell him about it. He himself invented an image, exalted in his own eyes, and having obtained his object of worship, he wants to grow in the eyes of friends and in his own. That is Romeo before meeting with fourteen-year-old Juliet Capuleti - the daughter of the sworn enemy of his family. Love for Juliet is completely different. This is not an empty hobby, but a real feeling that turned him from a windy youth into an adult, serious person.  This love completely transforms his attitude and elevates him over reality. From nature, Romeo is endowed with a sensitive heart. Trying to get on the holiday to the Capulets, he anticipates in advance some kind of hidden trouble. As he did not try to deal with fate, and feelings prevailed. Killing Tybalt in a mortal fight, he realizes that he is destroying not only him, but himself as well. Also, in this fight, Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, is killed. When they begin to search for him in Verona to take revenge, he leaves for Mantua, but when he hears that Juliet drank the poison, he suddenly returns. He also decides to take poison in order to rest near his beloved. Mad with grief, he kills the innocent Paris, who promised to be married to Juliet, before he dies. The author colorfully draws the tragic way of life of this hero. In spite of everything, the sympathies of the readers are on his side. However, from the work it becomes clear how disastrous are passions and how they can take over even such a bright soul as Romeo.
