Race, anthropological type
The predominance of Caucasoid features is characteristic with a certain proportion of Mongoloid, their anthropological type is defined as sub Ural. Only Astrakhan Tatars or Karagash dominate the Mongoloid signs of the South Siberian type.
Tongue
Tatar language belongs to the Turkic group of the Altai language family. There are three dialects in the Tatar language - Western (Mishar), Middle (Kazan-Tatar) and Eastern (Siberian-Tatar). The earliest known literary monument in the Tatar language dates back to the 13th century, the formation of the modern Tatar national language was completed at the beginning of the 20th century.
Religion
Believers of the Tatars are mainly Sunni Muslims, the group of Kryashens are Orthodox.
Writing
Until 1928, Tatar writing was based on the Arabic script, in the period 1928-1939. - in Latin, and then on the basis of Cyrillic.
