Usually the whole match consists of four parts of 10 minutes each, but since the physical education lesson is only 40 minutes, usually less time is given for the game. But according to all the rules, the break between each part is 2 minutes, and after the second part - 15 minutes, and in this break the teams must exchange baskets.
Traditionally, the game begins with a controversial throw, where team captains hit the ball, tossed by the judge, towards their players and the opponent’s basket in order to take the start of the game into their own hands.
The technique of moving the ball around the field is important: you must run with the ball by hitting it on the floor, and specially kicking it with your foot or fist is a violation.
But that’s not all: not the number of shots to the basket is counted, but the points, which depend on which section of the basketball field the ball is scored. So for a ball thrown into the basket from the near and middle court - 2 points, then the brown “3-point” line - 3 points (usually this is about 7 meters), one penalty.
The rules of the game say that the winning team is the one that scored the most points with the expiration of the game. If at the end of the game the teams scored the same number of points, they are given an additional 5 minutes - “overtime”, if the situation has not changed over these five minutes, the next additional time is spent and so on until the winner of the match is revealed.
In basketball, violations are not uncommon, for which a judge (physical education teacher) can fine an entire team and fouls of a particular participant.
In short, the most common violations of the rules among schoolchildren are:
“Out” - when the ball falls beyond the bounding line of the basketball court;
“Jogging” and “passing the ball” - one of the players who leads the ball takes 3 steps in a row without hitting the ball with his hand on the floor, or even runs with the ball in his hands;
“Violation of 3 seconds” - the player is more than three seconds under the opponent’s basket, while not owning the ball;
“Violation of 5 seconds” - the player with the ball does not pass the ball to another player or does not throw in the opponent’s basket for more than five seconds;
“Violation of 8 seconds” - the team within eight seconds does not bring the ball into the zone of the opponent;
“Violation of 24 seconds” - the team owns the ball, but does not throw it into the zone of the opponent’s ring for twenty-four seconds.
“Return of the ball" - the team in the attack, which is located in the opponent's zone, returns it back to its rear zone - this is a violation.
