Launch of the Space Telescope "Kepler" in space was launched in March 2009. "Kepler" in the "non-stop" scanning area of the sky, located between Lyra and Cygnus, which contains about 4.5 million stars.
Today "Kepler" has been able to find 54 candidates for the role of potentially habitable planets, but Kepler-22b - first, the location of which in the habitable zone was confirmed. Habitable zone means the region where the surface of the existing planet is liquid water.
