Apart from condemning tobacco companies and raising the price of cigarettes, the government's anti-smoking campaign has failed to have any long-term effects and the only people benefitting from it are the Inland Revenue department. Meanwhile, the National Health Service says it may refuse to treat persistent smokers. Of course, this hasn't prevented the big tobacco companies spending vast amounts of money on advertising.
