Canada is often called " The land of the Maple leaf" because the maple leaf is the national symbol of the country.The beaver (бобёр) is the official animal symbol of Canada. It became an official symbol in 1975.
Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories. Formally the head of the state is the Queen Elizabeth ll . She is the Queen of Canada and the symbol of nation's unity, but the ties with Great Britain are not so strong as they used to be.Canada is a constitutional monarchywith a federal system, a parliamentary government and with strong democratic traditions.
