The United Kingdom is a country which is located on a group of islands, called the British Isles, between the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. They are made up of more than 6,000 islands . The largest of them are Great Britain and Ireland and the Orkney Islands, the Shetland Islands and the Hebrides in England, as well as the Isles of Scilly ['sill] and the Isle of Wight in Scotland. The country is surrounded by the waters of the North and Irish Seas, the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel between England and France. Its location on an island gives it only one land narrow - between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The English Channel is quite
border, so it made the link between England and France quite easy. First, there are a lot of modern ships going between the two countries. Second, there are Eurostar trains running below the sea bottom through the Channel Tunnel.
