Recently I read a novelette "Banshee". Banshee is an autobiographical short story written by Ray Bradbury in September 1984. The story is based on Bradbury's bad relationship with John Huston. In "Banshee", director John Hampton and writer Douglas Rogers share an identical relationship. Hampton always torment Rogers with insults, pranks, and attempts to frighten the young author with ghost stories. One of the scary stories was story about Banshee. Banshee is a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the underworld. But one horror story come alive. Banshee appeared at the house of William. She was crying, screaming and calling of a Will. The hero of the story met the banshee. This was a beautiful girl with a dead and cold face. She was wrapped in a scarf against the cold. She was disappointed in love. Douglas, conversing with a woman learns that she mistaken for a certain William of John, the last tenant house, her unfaithful lover. Finally banshee asks Douglas to call William to kill him, because he does not know de torments of love and girls. Doug returns to the house and goads John to meet the banshee, knowing that she intends to kill John/ Wiliam. At the last minute, Doug has second thoughts and unsuccessfully tries to convince John not to meet the banshee; however, John goes outside to confront his anyway.
