Jason Peters is a wildlife cameraman. He films wild animals for documentary programmes on TV. For fifteen years as part of his job he has explored the world's jungles and rainforests. Snake have bitten him more times than he can remember and alligators have attacked him, too. At the moment he is preparing to go back to the Amazon. He loves filming here but another reason is that his girlfriend, Carmen, lives in Manaus, near the Amazon. Peter and Carmen work together when they can. They have filmed in Venezuela several times. While they were there, they lived with the Matis Indians.
'The Matis eat monkeys,' says Jason, 'but they do not eat other animals which are part of their religion. At the moment I am studying them and the Amazon people and I are trying to compare the two. I have found books about the Amazon people to help me but there's nothing about the Matis. I'll have to write soemthing myself!

David: No, never. Why?
Lisa: I'm going there in October!
David: Do you like visiting foreign countries?
Lisa: Yes! I love it!
David: Hmm. I don't.
Lisa: So do you always have holidays in this country?
David: Yes, it's much easier. Everyone speaks English! Do you learn Spanish for your trip?
Lisa: Of course!
David: And do you read a lot of books about South America?
Lisa: Yes. Well, one book. Do you read travel books in your spare time?
David: Yes, I like books by Bruce Chatwin. Have you read any books by him?
Lias: No. Has he written any books about South America?
David: Oh, yes! There's a great one called In Patagonia.
