Charles Robert Darwin (born Charles Robert Darwin (tʃɑrlz 'dɑː.wɪn);. 12 February 1809 - 19 April 1882) - English naturalist and explorer, one of the first to come to a conclusion and to substantiate the idea that all species of living organisms evolve in time and come from a common ancestor. In his theory, expanded summary of which was published in 1859 in his book "The Origin of Species", the basic mechanism of evolution Darwin called natural selection. Later, he developed the theory of sexual selection. He also owns one of the first general study of human origins.
